What we are looking for

Our approach

One acquisition.
Full commitment.

We are not a fund spreading attention across dozens of companies. Dovetail exists to buy one business and run it with the full focus of an owner, because that is what a well-built business deserves, and it is the only way we know to do this well.

Long-term ownership

We are not optimizing for a quick flip. Our hold horizon is 5–7 years after acquisition, with no pressure to exit early. A single operator with real accountability to one business only pays off over a long hold. We measure success by whether the business is stronger a decade from now.

Operator-led growth

The operator joins as the day-to-day leader, not a board member visiting quarterly. We earn trust by showing up, understanding the business deeply, and making decisions alongside your team. Walk, then run, then sprint.

Investment discipline

We would rather pass on a good business than buy the wrong one. Because we're buying just one company, we take our time, ask careful questions, and make sure the business can stand on its own before we commit. That patience protects your team and our investors equally.

Taylor Miller

Founder & Operator

I founded Dovetail Growth Partners because I wanted to own and operate a business, not advise on them, not manage a portfolio of them. One business, run well, for a long time. That is the entire thesis.

I spent the better part of a decade at Bain & Company helping investors and companies decide which businesses to buy and how to make them stronger afterwards. Then I moved inside operating companies, first as chief of staff to the leadership of a mid-sized manufacturer, and then supporting the leadership team of a large software company through a period of change. Both taught me the difference between a plan on paper and one that works on the floor.
